Approximately a year ago, I heard about the Finnish Pink Floyd tribute band Pulse. They held their annual concert at Klubi, playing the album Animals in it’s entirety. Since Animals is one of my all-time favourite albums (and Pink Floyd one of my favourite bands), I was thrilled. These guys are not just any random tribute band, as is probably quite obvious from my post on last year’s gig.

One of my points from last year was the crowded space of Klubi totally filled up with people. Thankfully, this year the concert was held in Pakkahuone (which is ~3 times bigger), but even that was filled nicely with people (although not as crammed as the gig in Klubi was).

With the bigger stage also came bigger lights and sound. Lots of lights, lasers and quadrophonic sound really helped create the Pink Floyd experience that we were all eager to get. The band put on a solid show, performing the entire albums Wish You Were Here and The Division Bell as well as other classics such as Time, Echoes and The Great Gig in the Sky (once again performed beautifully by backing vocalist Susanna).
Last year I really enjoyed the details that the singer (Thierry) brought to the songs, but this time the star for me was probably the guitarist (Mikko). With the epic solos of Marooned, High Hopes, Shine On You Crazy Diamond etc. he really channelled the sounds of Gilmour as well as bringing his own touch.
All in all, a great gig for people of all ages. With great music played by seasoned musicians as well as the stunning lights and crisp sound, it was definitely a recommendable experience.
