PULSE plays Pink Floyd

Friday night was the first time a tribute band had a weekend gig at Klubi. Following the success of their gig precisely a year earlier, the Pink Floyd tribute band PULSE once again performed for a full house of eager fans.

The set-list features a bunch of hits such as Another Brick in the Wall pt2, Hey You, Wish You Were Here, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Comfortably Numb, Time and many more, but one of the special highlights of the evening was the full performance of the Animals album, which happens to be my personal favourite.

PULSE really captured the sound and vibe of Pink Floyd, perhaps most obvious in the lead vocalist Thierry Meyour, who channelled the voices of both Gilmour and Waters as well as a variety of sounds well known in Floyd songs, such as laughs, dogs barking and other voice samples. Not only the singing, but guitars, bass, keyboard, drums and the occasional saxophone were all executed as expected by the fans who have listened to the songs hundreds, if not thousands of times. The execution was not a mere imitation though, the spirit of originals really shone through and the genuine love of the music glowed from the musicians, adding their personal touches on the classics.

As a huge fan of Pink Floyd I was thrilled by this concert, getting to experience so many beloved songs live and in such a high quality was an absolute treat. It was an evening of goosebumps and eargasms, only drawback being a couple of drunk buffoons in the crowd who had to ruin it for some of us who just wanted to enjoy the music. Overall the gig was an absolute joy though, an experience that I would recommend for any Pink Floyd fan (big or small).
